Dear Ms. Shahrinaz,
Throughout this assignment, I’ve been using the HTML coding method to build the website. It’s been tough and it is not easy as the application of using the HTML tags found on the Internet in order to make the website look better, requires trial and error. As this assignment only allow us to build the website solely on HTML coding, the use of the marquee tag enhances my knowledge towards HTML. It is learnt that the marquee tag can eventually move text from any direction. Before this, I have always thought that HTML coding eventually has very limited attributes that I can use in building a website. But now, I finally know that HTML coding can also produce some of the advance feature as long as I know the code needed. Besides this, the RGB and Hexidecimal color chart which I found in http://www.web-source.net/216_color_chart.htm did really help me a lot in adjusting my wanted color. Other than this, I found HTML tag chart through google search too. It helped me to keep experiencing with the HTML codes and eventually I got what I want. Through all these research that I have done on the internet are helpful enough to be a reliable guidance for me to follow and practise.
Besides learning the code in order to enhance the look of my website, I also face some of the difficulties in getting the output that I want. As this assignment is a group assignment, I have already had a concept in my mind on how to build the website – which is splitting the website into 2 parts, where each part, we’ll have our own spaces to write our biography. However, in the midst of getting this output; I was lost and I don’t know how to go about it. Some of friend suggested to me that I should be using the frameset code to create the output that I want. However, they forget how to do the coding. As I was trying to debug this problem, I went to find Ms. Shahrinaz and she has given me the advice that is so simple and yet I have never thought before; which is the usage of table. I eventually took her advice and implement it on my website and the output is something very close to the concept I have in mind.
Other than that, finding the website hosting server to host my website was not that hard at all, as Ms. Shahrinaz has given us several hosting server that we can use to host our website for free. The hosting website that I have chosen, Bravehost were eventually very user-friendly, and I found no difficulties in uploading the file needed for my website. For people who have blogging experience, the task of creating a website through a hosting website would become much easier. Even so, sometimes due to the connection problem in UCSI, I would need to upload again and again as the connection break half-way when I was uploading. However, once the speed of the connection is fast; uploading files into the hosting server becomes easy.
After uploading the files into the hosting server and the website that I and my teammate build appears, the next step that we need to do was to create a blog and pose our report in the blog. To me, creating a blog is not hard as I am a blogger as well. However, as this time it was for my assignment, I had to put in some effort in making the blog looks presentable. Therefore, I have been trying different looks for the background of my blog in order to check which outlook suits my personality. And throughout the process, I’ve been enjoying the creation of my blog and been playing around with it, the whole day.
As a conclusion, I think this assignment given was fun and enjoying as this is my first time creating a website using HTML coding. The sense of satisfaction was “un-describable” as the joy of looking at the website that I create using my bare hands was great. I’ve eventually learnt a lot of things in this assignment. One of it was, the usage of different codes to create the things that we want to put into our website. Besides that, I’ve also learnt that websites are built by codes. In order for me to build a good website, efforts from me to find other type of codes especially those which are not covered in class is much expected. If I would do this assignment again, I think I will put in flash video player, music player as well as changing the background of my website to those which are animated. By changing those, I believe the website will look more sophisticated in terms of technologies wise.
